Dougstr speaks Part 2

Posted Tuesday | Comments 0
Today Blog is on Dougstr opinion on what Don Cherry Said Flamestr Dougstr before we get into the questions how do you feel about Don Cherry himself Dougstr Don Cherry I like him a lot he usually funny with his clothes like in the Stanley Cup Playoffs I like his red wig and his dress robe with the Carolina Hurricanes on it. Mike Emery He is a real good...
Well, after a thrilling advertisement for the game of hockey that was Game One, we've come to this: a real crossroads, with Anaheim's old-fashioned physical play (honed by a lot of WHL talent like Getzlaf, Kunitz, the Niedermayers et al) going up against Ottawa's mostly-European speed and finesse (which is no slap against Selanne for the Ducks or Neil for the Sens). It's a...

I agree with Hull and Cherry

Posted Tuesday | Comments 0
I have to say that I did like the segment after the 2nd period during game 4 last night with Don Cherry visiting the NBC booth. As far as the opinion of both Cherry and Brett Hull I have to agree that the majority would like to see fighting as part of the NHL and I do agree that ratings wouldn't suffer, but would be better if it was more common to see a little sparring...

A word about Don Cherry

Posted Friday | Comments 1
Before this post, I have a brief announcement. In September, WILY Radio at Purdue University will be airing the second season of High Sticking with Mike and James. I run the soundboard and co-host this live, commercial-free, 90-minute hockey talk show. The day and time is TBD, but will be posted when I find out. The show can be heard at www.wilyradio.com, and there will be...
After having tied the game with minutes to go in the third period, the Toronto Maple Leafs get the butt end of the stick on a non call which allowed the New Jersey Devils to score the game winning goal on goaltender Vesa Toskala. What a dissapointment this is. The Leafs were in position to get a minimum of 1 point and maybe more but due to this poor non call by the off...

Opening my vent.

Posted Tuesday | Comments 0
I've had enough of hearing and reading stupid "comments" and "soundbytes" So this whole blog is my chance to vent on everything bugging me in hockey lately. ------------------------------------------ Mats Sundin - Everyone is sick of this I agree, but I more sick of the media coverage of this guy. Every medium has said Sundin has or will sign with just about every t...

Back to Cherry and the Sens

Posted Saturday | Comments 0
My previous blog I harped on Cherry, and after watching hockey night in canada tonight/saturday I find myself in the same spot. After the Toronto/Pittsburgh game, Cherry ranted and cryed about Deavoux not fighting Godard when it was 4-1, cryed about Hagman mouthing off Crosby after Crosby checked him from behind and keep stick checking Hagman, then he finished it off by...

Ken Campbell is Wrong

Coaches Corner maybe becoming increasingly irrelevant as the staunchly patriotic Don Cherry rambles about musings better suited to an age when every player was nicknamed “Butch” and that a Swede was something related to jokes about corners. But as Cherry provides the antithesis to contemporary hockey analysis I once more find myself agreeing with his misty eyed old sch...
There are some nights when I think Don Cherry has lost his mind - and suits and ties do nothing to convince me otherwise. That being said, Don Cherry was 100%, absolutely spot on tonight. The four points Grapes made tonight were brilliant: 1) What the hell was Hamhuis doing taking a dirty, cheap shot at Bolland's head? 2) Bryzgalov is a joker and should keep his ...
Wouldn’t it be nice if just once Ron MacLean actually challenged one of Don Cherry’s outlandish assertions and made him support it with some substance? Seriously though, if you throw in a few Cherry-wanna-be’s, like Mike Milbury or Doug MacLean, the so-called expert analysis segment of your favourite hockey program is filled to the brim with unsupported rhetoric f...

Donald S Cherry

Posted Sunday | Comments 0
What a guy! Isn't he beautiful?! I have chosen to write my next blog about one of my favourite sports personalities of all time. Nothing irritates me more then people who constantly berate and chastise Don Cherry when they don't even know the guy. Off-screen, what does Don do? Spends his time helping the hockey community in every way he can. He visits hospitals...

Bell Centre Brawlin!

Posted Sunday | Comments 0
Maybe Don Cherry was right when he boldly stated that the Leafs new toughness is the reason for a much steadier and confident game play by the young team. I can remember thinking so many times last year..."IF Colton Orr were here that guy wouldn't be hacking Kessel to ice everytime he touched the puck". And when you look at the 1-0 loss to the bruins this year it was a c...
Coaching expert Donald S. Cherry diagnosed the Edmonton Oilers in October, three games into their doomed 2017-18 season. This Coach’s Corner segment was broadcast on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 and Cherry is in top form right from the start — “Do they have pool tables out in Red Deer?” — but the relevant bit arrives at 2:07, when Ron MacLean introduces “a little ...
